About the Company:
Qumulo is the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere — edge, core, or cloud — on the platform of your choice. In a world with trillions of files and objects comprising 100+ zettabytes worldwide, companies need a solution that combines the ability to work anywhere with simplicity. This is precisely what Qumulo was founded to accomplish.
At Qumulo, we are building an open and collaborative culture where people can do their best work with customers as our magnetic field. We act as owners, we share by default, we are data driven and experimental and as an inclusive workplace, we encourage and celebrate multiple points of view. As part of our culture we believe diversity drives innovation.
About the Position:
As a Senior Consulting Engineer, you are the vanguard of our Professional Services team. You aren’t just there to "install" a product - you are there to ensure our customers achieve their business goals.
We are looking for a hybrid expert who is equally comfortable in a cold data center aisle installing an on-premises cluster as they are in a Terraform script deploying a cluster from home in the cloud. You are a teacher, an architect and a standard-setter. You don't just leave a customer with a login and instructions on how to use our product; you leave them with a roadmap to success.
Responsibilities:
- Architect Success: Lead complex deployments across on-premises data centers and public cloud environments. You’ll bridge the gap between physical hardware and cloud-native scalability.
- Beyond The "Install": You don't stop at "it’s working" and "here is how to use it" - you dive into customer workflows, asking the critical questions such as: "What happens in the next month or 3 months? How does this data and workflow look in 6 months?". You’ll define the "Value Realization" path and hand it off to our CSM team to ensure we are helping the customer achieve long-term Time-to-Value (TTV).
- Educate & Empower: You are a natural mentor. You will teach customers how to master Qumulo, tailoring your training to their specific use cases rather than just reading from a manual or following a pre-defined script.
- Set The Gold Standard: As a senior member of the team, you will build the templates, documentation and best practices that the rest of the PS team will adopt. You aren't just following the process - you are defining it.
- Voice Of The Customer: Feed critical field insights back to Product and Engineering to ensure our roadmap reflects the needs of our customers.
Qualifications:
- The Hybrid Specialist: You love the "tactile" side of tech (servers, switches and high-speed networking) but have fully embraced the Cloud. You understand that "data anywhere" means being proficient in both the on-prem data center and the Cloud.
- Outcome-Oriented: You aren't satisfied until the customer understands exactly how Qumulo solves their specific problem and they've implemented the needed changes to achieve it. You think ahead to the 3-month and 6-month milestones.
- Road Warrior & Remote Pro: You enjoy the lifestyle of travel and being onsite with customers, but you are equally disciplined and productive when working from home on cloud deployments.
- Technical Mentor: You take pride in raising the "quality bar" for those around you.
- On-Prem Mastery: 5+ years in Enterprise Storage (NAS/Qumulo preferred), deep knowledge of Data Center Networking (LACP, MLAG, VLANs) and Data Center infrastructure.
- Cloud Fluency: Proven experience with Cloud deployments utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code (for example, Terraform or CloudFormation).
- OS & Scripting: Strong Linux/Windows systems administration and the ability to automate tasks via scripting (Python, Bash, etc.).
- Communication: Exceptional ability to explain complex technical concepts to both a Systems Administrator and a CTO.
The annual pay range for the role is USD $152,000- $194,000 USD
